Sullishak Home Page

“May
cares be left without and caring brought within”
This collection of web pages describes Sullishak, a beach cabin on Lincoln Beach in Oregon, USA.
Wes and Elsie Sullivan built the cabin in 1947.
The property consists of two tax lots. The cabin lot to the north is owned by
Dave and Barb Sullivan, and the vacant lot to the south is owned by Karen
Sullivan, Ian Sullivan, Ana Synodis, and Mick Synodis. The cabin is managed as a retreat for the extended
Sullivan and Diviney families. It cannot be rented,
but the family invites selected friends to reserve and use the cabin.
Physical Overview
Today the first floor of the cabin consists
of a large family/dining/kitchen room. Other first floor rooms include a
small master bedroom, bathroom, and sleeping room in the porch. The upstairs
is a long sleeping loft with three double beds and two twin beds.
Don't expect a TV or
telephone; this cabin is deliberately “primitive.” It does have running
water, city sewer service, a shower and electric range. If you want to heat
the cabin, we recommend building a fire in the Vermont Castings wood stove
... but we recently installed a baseboard electric heater in the living room
if you feel lazy.
In 2012 we plan to extend
the existing cabin 19-feet back to add a new master bedroom and bathroom.
Thus, the cabin will retain its rustic charm and character, but it will gain a
more modern and comfortable sleeping area in the rear. To understand our
plans and progress, please look at the Expansion
Plans page.
Location
Sullishak is
located at 4040 Mina Street, Lincoln Beach, Oregon, USA. The cabin lies two
blocks west of Highway 101 and is the same distance from the beach.
If you drive south from Sullishak,
you pass the Surfrider Inn, Fogarty Creek State
Park, Depoe Bay, and eventually Newport. Driving north you will pass Gleneden
Beach, Salishan Lodge, and Lincoln City.
First-time visitors have been known to drive past
the highway exit for Sullishak. As you drive along
Highway 101, look for a section of divided highway with a Sentry Market on
the east side of the road. Turn on Willow Street and travel two blocks toward
the ocean. Just before Willow dives down a steep incline, turn north onto
Mina. The third house on the right will be Sullishak.
